Tony Robbins is a harbinger of disruption.
He has written 3 best-selling books, Unlimited Power, Awaken the Giant Within, and Money: Master the Game, and they each focus on changing your way of thinking about personal achievement, giving you roadmaps for reprogramming your mind and body to reach your ultimate level of success and, thus, master your life. He’s a master of empowering people to take charge of their destinies despite their circumstances–and he’d know something about that due to his experience as a child of divorce and domestic violence.
After changing how many influential people think about their businesses, he’s taking his world-renowned disruption techniques to the financial sector.
Also known as America’s #1 Life and Business Strategist, Robbins chooses his areas of influence. He stands up for RIAs (Registered Investment Advisors) that are in the job to help the client first and foremost, those who uphold the fiduciary standard – a standard that has been around since it was established as part of the Investment Advisors Act of 1940. Investment advisors are supposed to advise according to the fiduciary standard, a term Robbins refers to as “The F word,” which dictates that an advisor must put their client’s interests above their own.
Robbins is supporting advisors following the fiduciary standard to promote investment practices that will ensure the client’s best interest is put first.
Robbins began to turn his attention to investing after 2008, because he “saw so many people suffering” and wanted to be an advocate for the average investor. Robbins says that RIAs aren’t bad people, but the system is rigged to prioritize profit — not the client. He wants to shine attention on the RIAs that are advising in the correct way: by prioritizing the client. He’s spent scores of years learning about finance and risk from his wealthy clients, and this has led him to help people “be part of [their] own rescue.”
He recently took on the title Chief of Investor Psychology at wealth manager Creative Planning, where he helps to “train advisors on how clients’ emotional needs may impact their approach to investing.”
As of late, Robbins recently released a new film titled “Tony Robbins: I Am Not Your Guru” which has been lauded as a “[s]pellbinding look at self-help guru Tony Robbins” by the LA Times and a “compelling film that should raise healthy discussions” by The Austin Chronicle. If you’re interested, it comes to Netflix on July 15th 2016.
